Just Coz: Oscar Ballot

ImageHere we are again with the self-congratualatory awards season and I just can’t help having fun trying to predict who’s going to win.

This year has the tightest race for Best Picture since Shakespeare in Love beat Saving Private Ryan. The usual indicator for Best Picture is the Producers Guild Award, but this year Gravity and 12 Years a Slave tied for the win. I would love to see Gravity take it since it’s a science-fiction film, but there lies the problem: it’s a science-fiction film which usually only wins the technical awards. 12 Years a Slave is deemed an important social film, so I give it the edge. If Gravity loses, I’ll take solace in its Original Score win since the music was my favorite part. It amped up the tension more than any film I’ve seen in a while.

So without further you-knows-its, here are my predictions of the winners.
