After the food poisoning incident, I started on some new medication which has been kicking me in my cracked moon for the past week and a half. Still it’s better than food poisoning. The meds have sapped my energy and it’s hard to create motivation not to mention turn the funny on; however, due to the suppression of my humor gene, I’ve made some insightful insights. No, I was sober when I noticed these.
I recently decided that the first time it cost me over $40 to fill up my tank, I was going to buy a bus pass. It happened in June. Here’s the deal — a monthly 2-zone bus pass is $30. I’m spending $80 a month in just gas alone to drive. Even better is the fact that I live near both jobs and can do a full circle from home to full-time job to part-time job and back to home in a matter of minutes, so I’ve been trying to leave the car at home and “reduce my carbon footprint”. In other words, taking the bus is extremely easy for me due to my locations.
I also get to people watch. SQUEAL!
The other morning I was bopping along with Eduardo, my iPod, when a track from George Harrison’s brain-child “The Concert For Bangladesh” came on. It was the 16-minute Ravi Shankar raga opus “Bangla Dhun”. I got on my connecting bus, sat down and took in my surroundings. I had Indians all around me listening to their iPods while on their way to work. Here I am listening to one of India’s premiere musicians playing in my head when a funny thought struck me. “Wouldn’t it be ironic if they are listening to music by oh-so-white American musicians like Ryan Adams, Britney Spears or Pat Boone?” It made me giggle to myself.
In a moment of clarity recently after reading about creationists, it dawned on me that anything can be a fact as long as at least two people agree that it is true. It’s perception within their realm of reality for sure because someone somewhere will disagree with them — that being human nature and such — but it made realize why there are so many diverse beliefs around the globe.
Correction: It turns out that this thought came from a conversation I had with Kevin. I can only chalk it up to being all ill and crap.
I want to make a t-shirt that states simply:
Everything Is Something.
…especially if it’s on tie-dye. Zing!
If you like the t-shirt in the picture, you can get your own over at Mattress Police.
